Prison Library and Donations

It helps when you have a friend in the media.  You get better response from the public.  Dan Rodricks of WYPR 88.1(NPR) through his midday show; http://www.wypr.org/stationprogram/midday-dan-rodricks,  and articles in the Baltimore Sun http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2011-02-02/news/bs-ed-rodricks-books-20110202_1_nonfiction-books-funds-for-new-books-satellite-libraries   has proved to be a true friend of prison libraries.  I have got lots of donations including many books on reentry because of Dan's support of prison libraries.

Judith Richter and sister Ms Pasternack donated 10,000 books, from her late husband's collection, to prison libraries in Maryland.

Miss Shirley,

How can I get books to you for the prison libraries? I can provide fiction, non-fiction, classics, dictionaries, sports, health and nutrition, etc.

Saw the article in the Washington Post today. I also have some books that I could donate (not 10,000 as in the blog post, wow!) but some. I also have a nice complete set of Encyclopedia Brittanica (current through 2010) that I can donate. If interested, please contact me at teamspader@mac.com.

Great article in the Washington Post. Thanks for helping where lots of help is needed. Please let us know how we can donate books and where to take them. What kind of children's books are welcome and age groups if the adult reads to their children? Thanks again.

Miss Shirley,
Please post information on your blog about making book donations to Maryland's prison libraries. I have fiction and non-fiction, hardback and paperback books I would like to contribute.
